A mobile court in Faridpur has fined a biryani outlet Tk 1 lakh for food safety violations.

The operation was carried out on Wednesday afternoon at the Jhiltuli area near the Diabetic Hospital intersection, led by Executive Magistrate Tanmoy Islam of the Faridpur District Administration.

During the inspection, authorities found that the biryani shop, Kacchi Sultan, was using harmful fabric dyes and chemicals, unlabeled ghee, and storing meat and other food items in unhygienic conditions. Based on these findings, the mobile court imposed a Tk 1 lakh fine under the Safe Food Act.

Executive Magistrates Nusrat Tabassum and Deepta Chakraborty were present during the drive. Officials from the Bangladesh Safe Food Authority, including Safe Food Officer Md. Azmul Fuad Riyad, and Sanitary Inspector Bazlur Rashid Khan from the Civil Surgeon’s Office also took part.

In the same operation, four grocery shops in the area were fined a total of Tk 13,000 for various irregularities.

The district administration said such mobile court drives will continue in the public interest and warned that no leniency will be shown in matters of food safety.
