


A mobile court has seized and destroyed approximately Tk 15 lakh worth of adulterated baby food and fake snacks during a raid in Boalmari, Faridpur. The factory responsible was also fined Tk 1 lakh for its operations.
The joint operation took place on Sunday afternoon in the Andharkotha village of Boalmari Municipality. Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Shibbir Ahmed led the court.
The raid targeted a hidden factory and warehouse run by Baharul Biswas and Ruhul Biswas, sons of Hasibur Biswas. Disguised behind a regular store, the brothers were found manufacturing and marketing hazardous food items.
The authorities seized four truckloads of contaminated goods like fake juices in attractive packaging, Rotten coconut-based sweets (naru), Adulterated pickles, chocolates, and biscuits and unhealthy chips and fries.
Magistrate Shibbir Ahmed confirmed that the items were highly harmful to children's health. "We conducted this raid based on long-standing allegations of illegal production. These items posed a severe risk to public health," he said.
Following the seizure, a road roller was used to destroy the entire stock of adulterated food. The magistrate emphasized that such drives will continue to ensure food safety in the region.
