U.S. Ambassador Brent T. Christensen paid tribute to fallen World War II soldiers during a visit to the Commonwealth War Cemetery on Tuesday morning.

The Ambassador arrived at the Badsha Mia Road site at 8 a.m., where he was joined by Chattogram Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain. During the visit, Christensen observed a moment of silence and laid wreaths to honor the service members buried there.

The leaders discussed the historical significance of the cemetery, its ongoing preservation, and the environmental maintenance of the grounds.

Following the tribute, Mayor Hossain briefed the Ambassador on the Chattogram City Corporation’s current development projects, including modern urban management and expanded citizen services. The Mayor emphasized that international partnerships remain vital for the city’s sustainable growth.

The Chattogram War Cemetery, managed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC), serves as a major historical landmark and memorial for the region.
