Colorful rally and discussion meeting held on the occasion of National Social Service Day in Sariakandi

National Social Service Day-2026 was celebrated in Sariakandi, Bogra with the theme "Technology and Compassion, Welfare and Equality, Trust in Social Service Today".

On Saturday (January 3), at 10:30 am, a colorful rally organized by the Upazila Administration and Social Service Office took out and circled the main roads of the upazila. After the rally, a discussion meeting was held in the Upazila Parishad auditorium.

The discussion meeting was presided over by Upazila Executive Officer Sumaiya Ferdous, and Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Atiqur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sariakandi Police Station A,F,M Asaduzzaman, and Press Club President Aktaruzzaman spoke on the occasion. The entire program was moderated by Upazila Social Service Officer Abdul Alim.

In their speeches, the speakers at the discussion meeting said that the Department of Social Services is playing an important role in improving the quality of life of the poverty-stricken, disabled, helpless and disadvantaged people of the society.

In the present era, it is important to make social service activities easier, transparent and people-friendly by ensuring the proper use of information technology. At the same time, they emphasized on building a sustainable social service system through the combination of human values, compassion and social responsibility.

The speakers at the discussion meeting also said that everyone should work together to reach the doorsteps of the people through allowances, rehabilitation activities, training and loan assistance under the social safety net. They expressed their determination to build a non-discriminatory, humane and prosperous society through social service.

The function was attended by officials and employees of the Upazila Social Service Office, people from different classes and professions, journalists from print and electronic media, and beneficiaries of the Social Service Office.
