After the news was published in the media, officials of the upazila administration have come forward to support the helpless former teacher Rupa Roy. They have provided assistance with tin, blankets for winter relief, as well as cash and dry food to build a house.
On Friday (December 26), the media published a humanitarian news story titled 'Former teacher Rupa is living an inhuman life in a shack in Sariakandi'. When such news was published in the media, the matter came to the attention of Sariakandi Upazila Executive Officer Sumaiya Ferdous.
Then on Thursday (January 1) afternoon, Sariakandi Upazila Executive Officer Sumaiya Ferdous, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Atiqur Rahman and Project Implementation Officer Md. Rashedul Islam went to the house of former teacher Rupa Roy.
In person, they went to the former teacher's house and inquired about her. At that time, they provided the former teacher with two bundles of tin, a check of six thousand taka from the government facility of the Ministry of Disaster and Relief for building a house, a blanket and dry food for winter.
It is worth noting that Rupa Roy, the former teacher of Brak, the wife of the late Shri Bikash Roy, was seen at the house of Kuthibari in the Sariakandi municipality area. She lives in a dilapidated hut. It is known from her that since she has no work, she is earning a living by working in other people's houses.
Rupa Roy, emotional after receiving the assistance, said, I used to get scared whenever I saw clouds in the sky. I spent the night getting wet in the rain during the storm. UNO has helped me by providing a house, money and dry food. I will get a new house. I will not have to get wet in the rain anymore. I thank the upazila administration for helping me.
