Leandro Paredes could face a lengthy international suspension after FIFA opened disciplinary proceedings over his conduct following the FIFA World Cup final.

The Argentine midfielder is under investigation for allegedly acting aggressively and provocatively toward opposition players during post-match incidents. If the allegations are proven under FIFA's disciplinary rules he could receive a ban of up to nine international matches.

Paredes is not the only Argentine under investigation. Teammates Nahuel Molina and Thiago Almada, along with assistant coach Roberto Ayala are also facing disciplinary scrutiny over the same incident.

FIFA has also launched a separate investigation into allegations of unsporting conduct involving Spanish midfielder Gavi.
