A dominant Barcelona cruised into the Spanish Super Cup final on Wednesday, dismantling Athletic Bilbao 5-0 at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.
Hansi Flick’s side delivered a masterclass in clinical finishing, scoring four times in a ruthless first-half display. Brazil international Raphinha led the charge with a brace, while teenage sensation Lamine Yamal was afforded a rest on the bench for most of the match.
The demolition began in the 23rd minute when Ferran Torres pounced on a loose ball after Fermín López’s initial effort was blocked. The floodgates opened shortly after 30th Minute, Fermín López doubled the lead, curling home a precise pass from Raphinha, 34th Minute the Roony Bardghji made it 3-0, catching Athletic goalkeeper Unai Simón off guard with a low strike and 38th Minute Raphinha added a fourth with a powerful effort to effectively end the contest before halftime.
Raphinha completed his brace in the 52nd minute to cap off a flawless team performance. With the game well in hand, Flick managed his squad’s workload, introducing Lamine Yamal as a 72nd-minute substitute. Yamal, who had been managing a minor stomach virus earlier in the week, appeared sharp in his limited cameo.
Barcelona, the defending Super Cup champions and current La Liga leaders, have now won nine consecutive matches across all competitions.
Barcelona will face either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid in Sunday's final. The two Madrid rivals set to meet in the second semifinal on Thursday.
The match took place at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah (often referred to by sponsors as Alinma Stadium). The final is scheduled for January 11, 2026.
