Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan has announced that he will contest the upcoming 13th National Parliament election as an independent candidate from Dhaka-10 constituency.

He made this announcement in a video message on his verified Facebook page on Friday (December 12) morning. In the video message, Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan said that an opportunity to determine the future of Bangladesh has come after 17 long years. Building a new Bangladesh and realizing dreams is difficult, but it is not impossible. Instead of the politics of division for ages, it is now necessary to implement a welfare-oriented state for every citizen and a new social, political and geopolitical system.

He said that this fight is not easy. However, the sacrifices of Matiur Rahman, Taramon Bibi, Nur Hossain, Felani, Abrar Fahad, Abu Sayeed and the fascinated ones inspire him. With this inspiration, he wants to continue the fight for reconstruction and constructive politics. In the video, he further said, "In the upcoming 13th National Parliament election, I am standing as an independent candidate in the Dhaka 10 parliamentary constituency consisting of Dhanmondi, Kalabagan, Hazaribagh, New Market and a part of Kamrangir Char. I do not have the patronage of any major political party, numerous dedicated workers, or the money required under the existing system. Your cooperation and support are my only recourse and my responsibility will be only to you." Asif further said, "I am not only a candidate for the post of Member of Parliament, but also a candidate for the referendum. Vote 'yes' in the referendum to implement the opportunity to reform the country that has come at the cost of so many lives."

It is worth noting that the schedule for the 13th National Parliament election was announced yesterday, Thursday. Just the day before, two student advisors to the interim government - Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan and Mahfuz Alam - resigned. After leaving the advisory post, various rumors spread in the political arena about which party they were joining.
