Ershad's Ex-Wife Bidisha Sentenced to Two Years in Prison for Fraud

A Dhaka court has sentenced Bidisha Siddique, ex-wife of former President Hussain Muhammad Ershad, to two years in prison for fraud involving a flat sale.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Jamshed Alam delivered the verdict on Wednesday afternoon.

Plaintiff’s lawyer Hemayet Uddin Khan confirmed the decision, stating, "As Bidisha is absconding, an arrest warrant has been issued against her along with a sentencing warrant."

Alongside the prison term, Bidisha was fined Tk 10,000. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional month of rigorous imprisonment.
