


Prime Minister Tarique Rahman left Dhaka by road on Saturday morning for a daylong tour of Comilla and Chandpur to inaugurate several public welfare and development initiatives.
According to the Prime Minister’s Press Wing, the Premier departed his Gulshan residence at 8:30 AM. He is scheduled to address a street rally at the Lakshmipur Bazar ground in Barura Upazila, Comilla, at 11:30 AM.
Following the rally, the Prime Minister will travel to Chandpur to launch two major water management projects before the onset of the monsoon season. At 12:30 PM, he will formally inaugurate the Khordda Canal re-excavation work in the Waruk Bazar area of Shahrasti Upazila. Later, at 1:45 PM, he will launch the Bishwa Canal re-excavation program near Ghosher Hat in Chandpur Sadar Upazila. These projects are part of the government's nationwide initiative to excavate 20,000 kilometers of canals over the next five years.
After a brief stop at the Chandpur Circuit House at 2:30 PM, the Prime Minister will attend a Family Card distribution ceremony at the Chandpur Government College ground at 3:30 PM to assist low-income households.
The day's official itinerary will conclude with an organizational meeting of the Chandpur district BNP at the Chandpur Club at 5:00 PM. The Prime Minister is scheduled to begin his return journey to Dhaka by road at 6:30 PM. This marks his first official visit to Chandpur since assuming office.
