


The 90th birth anniversary of Bir Shrestha Shaheed Lance Naik Noor Mohammad Sheikh was observed in Narail today with due solemnity.
To mark the occasion on Thursday (February 26), the Narail district administration and the Bir Shrestha Noor Mohammad Trust organized a series of events at Noor Mohammad Nagar in Chandibarpur Union. The program included Quran recitation, a memorial rally, floral tributes, a guard of honor, and a discussion meeting followed by a prayer mahfil.
The memorial rally circumnavigated the roads of Noor Mohammad Nagar before concluding at the Bir Shrestha’s memorial. Tributes were then paid by various organizations, including the Narail District Administration, District Council, Bir Shrestha Noor Mohammad Sheikh Trust, and the namesake college and secondary school.
A smart contingent of the district police provided a state guard of honor. Later, a discussion session was held at the Bir Shrestha Noor Mohammad Sheikh Library and Memorial Museum auditorium.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Abdul Salam attended as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included District Council Chief Executive Officer Md. Asaduzzaman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Ahsan Mahmud Russell, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer T. M. Rahsin Kabir, and Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Noor-e-Alam Siddiqui. The martyr’s son, Mustafa Kamal, family members, and local citizens were also present.
Noor Mohammad Sheikh was born on February 26, 1936, in Mahishkhola village (now Noor Mohammad Nagar) to parents Mohammad Amanat Sheikh and Jennatunnesa.
