Trump stated he agreed to requests from Iran and other Middle Eastern nations for time to negotiate aiming for global economic stability with Israel also backing the temporary truce.
Despite the pause regional tensions remain critically high. Iranian officials warned of a "decisive response" to any US aggression. Iranian state-affiliated media explicitly threatened that any American strikes on its energy infrastructure would trigger severe retaliation against oil and gas facilities in Saudi Arabia the UAE Qatar and Israel.
The standoff has heavily impacted the global economy since the conflict began in late February. The ongoing risk of attacks has disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital conduit for global energy supplies. Consequently global oil prices have surged with benchmark Brent crude futures jumping 24% in July alone.
