Renowned actress Scarlett Johansson is reportedly in final discussions to join the DC Universe in the film 'The Batman Part Two,' directed by Matt Reeves. This move would mark her debut in Gotham City four years after her departure from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), where she gained massive fame as Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff.
According to Nexus Point News, Johansson is nearing a deal for the sequel to the 2022 blockbuster The Batman. The plan is for the film’s shooting to commence next year.
Before joining the DC project, Scarlett Johansson is scheduled to work on the film 'The Exorcist,' which she signed last week.
The sequel has faced delays, with Warner Bros. and DC studio heads James Gunn and Peter Safran changing the release date several times. Robert Pattinson is set to return in the titular role of Batman/Bruce Wayne. Matt Reeves is returning as director and co-writer (alongside Mattson Tomlin).
Successful stars from the first installment including Colin Farrell, Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Andy Serkis, and Barry Keoghan are also part of the franchise. The original The Batman, released in 2022, was a major commercial success, earning $770.3 million at the global box office.
Known as one of the world's most influential and "bankable" stars, Johansson recently starred in "Jurassic World: Rebirth," released in July this year, and made her debut in the film 'Eleanor the Great.'
