Three former candidates lose their deposit in Naogaon-1 constituency due to this in the election

Three parliamentary candidates lost their deposit in the 13th National Parliament election in Naogaon-1 (Porsha-Sapahar-Niamatpur) constituency after not getting the specified number of votes. They were among the 5 candidates contesting in the constituency.

This information was obtained by analyzing the results obtained from the office of the assistant returning officers of this parliamentary constituency, which consists of three upazilas. According to the rules of the Election Commission (EC), if a candidate contesting in an election does not get one-eighth or 12.5 percent of the total votes cast in his constituency, his deposit is forfeited. The candidates whose deposit will be forfeited in this constituency are three-time former BNP MP Dr. Salek Chowdhury (Motorcycle).

This time, he voted as an independent candidate without getting the BNP party nomination. He received 18,205 votes. The candidate of the Islamic Movement of Bangladesh is Mao: Abdul Haque Shah (fan). He received 9,08 votes and the candidate of the Jatiya Party, Akbar Ali Kalu (plough), received 4,205 votes. There were a total of 474,065 voters in 166 centers in this constituency. The total votes cast were 367,511. As a result, the deposit of the three candidates will be forfeited as they did not get the specified number of votes from the votes cast, according to the relevant sources.
