Bangladesh Bank has officially listed the newly-formed Sammilito Islami Bank PLC as a scheduled bank.

This confirmation came via a notification signed by the central bank's Deputy Governor, Dr. Md. Kabir Ahmed, on Monday. The process concluded swiftly, as the bank's license had been approved the previous day, Sunday, during a meeting of the Bangladesh Bank Board of Directors. The license was subsequently handed over officially on Monday.

Sammilito Islami Bank PLC was established as a result of the merger of five existing banks in the country. To lead this new entity, former senior secretary Dr. Mohammad Ayub Mia has been appointed as the Chairman.
