Local authorities conducted an eviction drive on Sunday to reclaim government land at Madhukhali Bazar in Faridpur. Led by Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Pratik Dutta, the two-hour operation aimed to clear space for a new road and address the market's long-standing waterlogging issues.

Acting on a complaint from the Madhukhali Municipality Bazar Committee, authorities demolished several illegal structures—including building walls and balconies—and cleared trees blocking the designated path. While this drive partially resolves the market's ongoing infrastructure complications, officials noted that more illegal establishments must be removed to make the new road fully operational.

Speaking to reporters, AC (Land) Dutta stated that all encroached lands and drainage systems will be completely cleared within the next week. He confirmed that encroachers have received verbal warnings to voluntarily vacate the premises.

"Strict action will be taken if they fail to remove their structures on their own responsibility," Dutta warned.

The drive took place in the presence of market committee leaders, local businessmen, and journalists, marking a significant step toward improving the local infrastructure.
