Rally against Plastic and polythene pollution in the Sundarbans

A motivational rally took place for students aimed at combating plastic and polythene pollution in the Sundarbans, specifically in Paikgachha, Khulna.

The event was organized by the non-governmental development organization Rupantor at the Town Secondary School in the Upazila Sadar on Tuesday afternoon, November 4.

The rally was chaired by Town Secondary School Principal Narayan Chandra Shikari and facilitated by Rakibul Islam from the Sundarban Youth Forum. Present at the event were Assistant Principal Subrata Kumar Das, Rupantor's District Project Coordinator Saki Rizwana, Joint Convener of the District Sundarban Journalist Forum Abdul Aziz, along with teachers Makhon Lal Sarkar, Kabori Sarkar, Alaul Morol, Salma Begum, guardian Shahidul Islam, and members of the Sundarban Youth Forum including Abdus Samad, Chanda Sultana, Tanjila Afrin, Krishna Chakraborty, Tania Rahman, Faisal Sardar, Ashikuzzaman Nayan, and Sweety Hasnat. A speech and quiz competition focused on the causes of plastic and polythene pollution and potential solutions was held. Students Shakib Al Hasan, Sneha Bachar, Aritra Mondal, Ratul Sarkar, and Hiran Banerjee emerged as winners of the competition.

Awards were presented to the winners during the event. To conclude, a cultural program and a cleanliness drive were carried out on the school grounds.
