A human chain was formed in Lohagara to protest threats against Hindu temples across the country and the disruption of the construction of a Lord Shri Ramachandra idol in Gaibandha.
The protest, organized by the Lohagara Upazila Puja Udjavan Parishad, took place at 11:00 AM on Saturday (June 20) in front of the Nitai-Gaur Sundar Jiur Temple in Lohagara town.
Acting President of the Upazila Puja Udjavan Parishad Shankar Adhikari, Acting General Secretary Gautam Dewan, and Nitai-Gaur Sundar Jiur Temple General Secretary Deepak Saha addressed the gathering. Other prominent community leaders, including representatives from the Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Oikya Parishad and the Matua Mahasangh, also spoke at the event.
Highlighting Bangladesh’s secular identity, the speakers emphasized that obstructing religious practices goes against the nation's core values. They urged the government and relevant authorities to immediately identify and take strict action against those involved in desecrating religious symbols and halting the idol's construction in Palashbari, Gaibandha.
