


A seminar highlighting the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the textile and fashion sectors was held today at the Mawlana Bhashani University of Science and Technology (MBSTU).
The event, titled "AI in Textile and Fashion Industry," was jointly organized by the university’s Textile Engineering Department and its Alumni Association at the 3rd Academic Building.
MBSTU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Shahidul Islam attended as the chief guest. The session was chaired by Professor Md. Abu Bakar Siddiqui, Chairman of the Textile Engineering Department and Chief Advisor of the Textile Club.
Professor Dr. Mohammad Matiur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Amit Sarkar, President of the Textile Engineering Alumni Association, were present as special guests.
Md. Sharifur Rahman Rakesh, a Technical Textiles student at Hochschule Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences in Germany, presented the keynote address. He detailed how AI is reshaping production management, merchandising, quality control, supply chain logistics, and fashion design. Rakesh also emphasized the urgent need to build a technologically skilled workforce in Bangladesh to keep pace with these global advances.
Speakers at the seminar noted that the global textile and fashion industry is undergoing rapid technological disruption. They urged students to proactively acquire modern, tech-based skills to remain competitive in the future job market.
