Khulna-6 constituency Member of Parliament Alhaj Maulana Abul Kalam Azad stated that the ongoing electricity issues in Paikgachha and Koyra upazilas will be permanently resolved by 2027.
He made these remarks on June 1 during an inspection of the 33/11 kV (20/28 MVA) substation in Paikgachha Upazila Sadar, where he also exchanged views with local Palli Bidyut Samity (Rural Electrification Board) officials.
Addressing the gathering, MP Azad emphasized that uninterrupted power supply is essential for daily life, industrial growth, and the rural agricultural economy. He explained that current disruptions are largely tied to national grid dependencies and localized transmission line faults caused by long-distance distribution. However, overall load-shedding has significantly reduced compared to the past, he added.
To achieve a seamless power supply, the MP announced that the construction of a dedicated power grid in Paikgachha is currently in the tendering phase, alongside plans to establish a new substation in Koyra. Once completed by 2027, these infrastructure projects will guarantee reliable electricity for the entire constituency. He also urged citizens to practice energy conservation to support the national grid.
The event was attended by Palli Bidyut Samity Deputy Director Anjan Kumar Sarkar, AGM Elias Patwary, and Junior Engineer Aminul Islam, alongside local leaders Advocate Shah Alam, Dr. GM Asadul Haque, and Advocate Mortaza Zaman Alamgir Rulu, among others.
