


After the biennial election of the century-old Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), the top three leadership positions have been finalized.
Mohammad Amirul Haque has been elected president, Amjad Hossain Chowdhury senior vice president, and Mashiul Alam Swapon vice president.
The decision was finalized at a meeting of the newly elected directors of the United Business Forum Panel, based on their consensus. The meeting was led by Amir Humayun Chowdhury, former president of the Chamber and chief advisor of the panel.
Amirul Haque, chairman of Seacom Group, was elected unopposed from the Town Association and Trade Group category.
Amjad Hossain Chowdhury, from the general category, was selected as senior vice president. He is the younger brother of Aslam Chowdhury, Managing Director of Rising Group and an advisor to the BNP Chairperson.
Mashiul Alam Swapon, a businessman and vice chairman of the Bangladesh Shipping Agents Association, was selected as vice president from the associate category.
The official presidium election (president, senior vice president, and vice president) was held on Monday (May 25) afternoon at the Agrabad World Trade Center in Chattogram.
The chamber’s biennial board election was held on May 23, after a gap of 13 years.
