


Five people were killed on Sunday morning after a head-on collision between a Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) bus and an ambulance on the Faridpur-Barishal highway.
The accident took place in the Shankarpasha area of Nagarkanda Upazila.
According to police and fire service officials, a Faridpur-bound BRTC bus coming from Bhanga collided head-on with an ambulance traveling from the opposite direction. The impact completely crushed the ambulance, killing five of its passengers on the spot.
Upon receiving the information, Bhanga Highway Police and local fire service personnel rushed to the scene to conduct rescue operations.
The injured were rescued and sent to a local hospital for urgent medical attention.
Md. Helaluddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhanga Highway Police Station, confirmed the casualties to the media. He stated that law enforcement is currently working to identify the victims and preparing to send the bodies to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
Traffic on the highway resumed after police removed the wrecked vehicles from the road.
