Ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, the Phulbari Upazila Administration organized a training workshop on preserving sacrificial animal skins, concluding with a free salt distribution program on Saturday (May 23) morning.
Held at the Upazila Parishad Hallroom at 10:00 am, the event was chaired by Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) and Upazila Parishad Administrator, Ahmed Hasan.
The workshop provided participants with practical guidelines on the proper slaughtering of sacrificial animals, scientific skin preservation, correct salt application, and safe transportation and marketing. Speakers emphasized that proper hide preservation prevents massive national waste and makes a vital contribution to Bangladesh's economy.
Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Sarowar Hasan, along with various department officials, public representatives, mosque imams, and local butchers, attended the session.
The Upazila administration urged residents to manage their sacrificial duties responsibly and maintain hygiene. Following the discussion, free salt was distributed among local leather traders and madrasa authorities to immediately support their preservation efforts.
