Youth Arrested Over Rape Charges in Bheramara

Police arrested 23-year-old Nishan Hossain on Tuesday afternoon for allegedly raping a young woman in Bheramara, Kushtia. The victim, 20, is currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.

According to police and local sources, the victim had traveled from Poradah, Mirpur, with her two-year-old child to attend a shrine fair. There, she encountered Nishan, a resident of Hirimdia in Chandgram Union.

On Monday night, Nishan allegedly abandoned the child in an open area near the shrine and forcibly took the woman to his house, where the assault occurred. Residents rescued the victim around 1:00 AM after hearing the child crying nearby.

Following a written complaint filed by the victim’s elder sister on Tuesday, police conducted a raid and apprehended the suspect.

Muhammad Jahedur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Bheramara Police Station, stated "We arrested the accused immediately after the complaint was lodged. The victim has been hospitalized for medical examinations, and we are taking strict legal action as per the law."
