Bhola Press Club Election Underway; 16 Candidates Contest Key Posts

Voting in the Bhola Press Club election began at 10:00am on Saturday in a festive atmosphere, ending days of speculation. Polling will continue until 2:00pm.

A total of 16 candidates are contesting for five key posts. There are three candidates each for president and vice-president, six for general secretary, and two each for joint secretary and treasurer.

Although the executive committee has 11 posts, no nominations were submitted for sports, culture, and library secretary positions.

Meanwhile, Chhoton Saha has been elected unopposed as office secretary. Md. Motasin Billah has also been elected unopposed as one of the executive members. Another executive member post remains vacant after a candidate withdrew nomination.

Candidates by post:

  • President: Ahad Chowdhury Tuhin, Nazrul Haque Anu, Md. Omar Faruk
  • Vice-President: Mezbah Uddin Shipu, A. Shahid Talukder, Md. Solaiman
  • General Secretary: Al Amin Shahriar, Yunus Sharif, Monirul Islam
  • Joint Secretary: Nasir Uddin Liton, M. Helal Uddin, Afzal Hossain
  • Executive Member (contested): Kamrul Islam, Md. Jasim Rana
  • Treasurer: Nur Alam Faizullah, Md. Mizanur Rahman

The election management committee is headed by Professor Md. Jamal Hossain, Vice Principal of Bhola Government College. Co-chairmen are Md. Enamul Haque and Yarul Alam Liton.

Election commissioners include Advocate Md. Yusuf, Advocate Mohammad Towaha, Advocate Md. Arifur Rahman, and Khandaker Al Amin.

A total of 46 voters are expected to cast their votes.
