Anu Elected President, Liton General Secretary of Bhola Press Club

The election for the executive committee of the Bhola Press Club concluded today, Saturday (April 11), in a festive and peaceful atmosphere.

Nazrul Haque Anu (Independent TV) was elected President, securing 20 votes, while Nasir Uddin Liton (Somoy TV) was elected General Secretary with 21 votes. Out of 46 eligible voters, 45 cast their ballots between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

In a competitive race featuring 16 candidates for five key positions, the following members were elected Vice President: Md. Solaiman (Dainik Matruchaya) – 19 votes.

Joint General Secretary: Kamrul Islam (Ekattor TV) – 25 votes. Treasurer: Nur Alam Faizullah (Dainik Jayjaydin) – 29 votes.

Earlier, Chhotan Saha was elected unopposed as Office Secretary, and Md. Motasin Billah secured one of the two Executive Member posts without contest. Three positions—Sports, Culture, and Library Editor—remain vacant as no candidates filed nominations. One Executive Member position also remains vacant following a candidate's withdrawal.

The presidential race saw Ahad Chowdhury Tuhin (Ittefaq) receive 13 votes and Md. Omar Faruk (Kalbela) receive 11. In the General Secretary race, Monirul Islam (Manabzamin) bagged 12 votes, followed by M. Helal Uddin (Jugantor) with 5, Afzal Hossain (NTV) with 4, and Al Amin Shahriar (BSS) and Yunus Sharif (Amardesh) with 1 vote each.

For the Vice President post, Mejbah Uddin Shipu (Ekushey TV) received 16 votes, while A. Shahid Talukder (The Financial Express) earned 8. In the Joint Secretary contest, Md. Jasim Rana (Mohona TV) secured 19 votes, and Md. Mizanur Rahman (Dinkal) received 15.

The election was conducted under the supervision of Professor Md. Jamal Hossain, Vice Principal of Bhola Government College, who served as Chairman of the Election Management Committee. He was assisted by Co-Chairmen Md. Enamul Haque and Yarul Alam Liton. A panel of four Election Commissioners, including prominent legal professionals and local club leaders, ensured the transparency of the process.
