Six Injured in Chauddagram Land Dispute Attack

Six people, including a woman and a child, were injured during a violent clash over a land dispute in Basonda village, under Munshirhat union of Chauddagram. The incident occurred on Friday night during a family meeting intended to resolve the disagreement.

According to the police complaint, Md. Alam, a returnee migrant, planned to sell his inherited land to his nephew, Sabuj, and his uncle, Jalal Uddin, in equal shares. However, another nephew, Sajib, allegedly demanded the entire property for himself.

During the family discussion, an argument escalated into an ambush. A group, allegedly led by Sajib and several accomplices, attacked the family members. The injured—identified as Nargis Begum, Jannatul Ferdous, Jinia Akhter, Farzana, Jalal Uddin, and young Farhan—received treatment at the Chauddagram Upazila Health Complex.

When contacted, the accused, Sajib, claimed there was "more to the story" but hung up before providing further details.

Chauddagram Police Station Inspector (Investigation), Gulzar Alam, confirmed receipt of the written complaint, stating, "We have received the allegation, and legal action will be taken following a thorough investigation."
