


22 BGB seized a huge quantity of Indian liquor, marijuana and Yaba tablets during a special operation at various borders of Kurigram district. The estimated market value of these drugs is 16 lakh 26 thousand taka.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Mahbub-ul-Haq, PSC, commander of Kurigram 22 BGB, confirmed the matter on Friday (January 2, 2026) afternoon.
1,046 bottles of Indian liquor, 139 pieces of Yaba and 5 kg of marijuana were recovered from the border area of the district in a special operation conducted on Friday night.
BGB sources said that the Border Guard Bangladesh has been conducting regular operations following the zero tolerance policy as per the instructions of the headquarters to prevent the smuggling of drugs and contraband in the border area under the responsibility of the Kurigram battalion. In this context, through the tireless efforts and professionalism of the battalion members, it was possible to seize a huge amount of banned drugs smuggled from India across the border.
In this regard, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Mahbub-ul-Haq, PSC, Commander of Kurigram 22 BGB, said that in addition to providing round-the-clock warnings and guidance to all BOPs to prevent illegal smuggling of drugs and contraband across the border, he himself is also actively participating in special operations on the ground.
