A human chain was formed in Paikgachha to advocate for climate justice. The non-governmental organization Awsed and the Upazila Climate Justice Forum organized this event in front of the Upazila Parishad on Thursday morning, November 20, in connection with the World Climate Conference.
The program was chaired by Sheikh Sadequzzaman and moderated by Md. Abdul Aziz, the General Secretary of the Upazila Climate Justice Forum. Speakers included Akhil Kumar Mondal, Manik Bhadra, Bishwanath Bhattacharya, and journalists Alauddin Raja, Subhash Mondal, Shahida Akhter, Liaquat Ali, and Manik Lal Basu.
They urged world leaders to cut carbon emissions. Furthermore, they called for a dedicated development action plan, the establishment of a development board, and specific budget allocations for the coastal areas of Bangladesh that are most vulnerable.
