Roads in Porsha Raise Accident Risks

Overgrown bushes and tree branches along several regional and rural roads in Porsha upazila of Naogaon have made movement difficult for pedestrians and vehicles, raising fears of accidents.

In many places, branches and vines have extended over the roads, leaving no space along the sides for people to walk. Locals said the dense vegetation often blocks visibility, especially around bends and turns, causing frequent minor accidents and the risk of major ones. Drivers also reported difficulty spotting pedestrians or animals suddenly crossing the road due to the overgrowth. Pedestrians and drivers alike have urged the authorities to clear the roadside vegetation immediately to prevent serious accidents. Naogaon Roads and Highways Division Executive Engineer Hamidul Haque said the department could not carry out the regular cleaning work due to recent rains but would begin clearing the bushes once the weather improves.
