A three-month "Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Drive" has been launched in Dimla, Nilphamari as part of the nationwide campaign against dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases. The local programme was inaugurated Saturday at the Upazila Parishad premises by the Dimla Upazila administration.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Imranuzzaman, District BNP Advisor Professor Raisul Alam Chowdhury, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Raushan Kabir, Acting Upazila Health Officer Dr. Atiqur Rahman, Upazila Agriculture Officer Mir Hasan Al Banna, and Jamaat Secretary Kazi Rukuzzaman Bakul attended along with local officials, teachers, students, journalists and political party leaders.
The campaign began with cleanup activities around the Upazila Parishad grounds targeting stagnant water, garbage and potential mosquito breeding sites. Speakers stressed that dengue prevention requires collective effort—not just from the administration but from public representatives, government offices, schools, businesses and residents alike. They urged everyone to keep their homes and workplaces clean and ensure water does not accumulate anywhere.
Officials said the drive will run in phases over three months across various unions and key areas of Dimla Upazila with focusing on destroying mosquito breeding grounds, spreading awareness and enforcing preventive measures against dengue.
