UNO Gold Cup Football Tournament 2026 Begins in Louhjang

The UNO Gold Cup Football Tournament 2026 was inaugurated Thursday in Louhjang, Munshiganj organized by the Upazila Parishad.

Louhjang Upazila Executive Officer Farzana Bobby Mitu presided over the event as chief guest at the Upazila Parishad ground at 10 am. Advocate Abdus Salam Azad, MP for Munshiganj-2 (Louhjang-Tongibari) also attended, along with Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Erfanur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge Md. Borhan Ul Islam and several other upazila officials.

Teachers, students and sports enthusiasts from local educational institutions gathered at the ground to cheer on the players with creating a festive atmosphere as the tournament's first round got underway.

Thursday's matches featured Kalma vs. Khidirpara, Medinimandal vs. Louhajang-Teutia, Bejgaon vs. Haldia and Baultali vs. Gaondia. The four winners will advance to the semifinals on August 14, with the third match's winner facing the first match's winner and the second and fourth match winners meeting in the other semifinal.

The final will be held on August 15 where the two semifinal winners will compete for the championship title.

UNO Farzana Bobby Mitu said the tournament was organized to encourage students to engage in sports while fostering friendship, harmony and brotherhood among them.
