Kurigram’s Army Member Lusad Receives Prime Minister’s Sports Award

Ahmed Abdullah Lusad, a resident of Belgachha Union in Kurigram Sadar and a member of the Bangladesh Army, has been honored for his outstanding achievements in athletics. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman presented him with an award and a check for BDT 1 lakh at a ceremony on Monday (March 30).

The award was part of a landmark government initiative to bring national athletes under a formal salary structure for the first time in Bangladesh. The Prime Minister inaugurated the program at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon.

The theme for this year’s program is: "Sports become a profession, family will gain confidence."

In this initial phase, 129 athletes will receive sports cards under the new structure, providing them with both a monthly salary and performance-based awards. The government aims to gradually expand this program to include 500 athletes.

Local residents and dignitaries expressed their pride and congratulated Abdullah Lusad on his significant achievement.
