Barcelona maintained their perfect LaLiga start with a 3-1 victory over Sevilla on Saturday with fueled by a brilliant hat-trick from captain Raphinha.
After Sevilla took an early lead through a Youssouf Fofana header, Barcelona responded swiftly.
Raphinha equalized just four minutes later. He then dominated the second half also scoring two more goals with crucial assists from Lamine Yamal. The victory marks Barcelona’s seventh consecutive league win and moving them six points clear of rival Real Madrid at the top of the table. In other Spanish action Celta Vigo secured an emphatic 5-0 victory over Racing Santander.
Meanwhile, football leagues across Europe saw major weekend shifts:
English Premier League: Arsenal lost their top spot after a surprising 3-0 defeat to Brighton. Elsewhere, Aston Villa edged past Tottenham 3-2 while Newcastle and Everton both claimed tight victories.
Italian Serie A: Defending champions Inter Milan played out a thrilling 2-2 draw at Roma. Inter's Lautaro Martinez rescued his team with two second-half goals with cancelling out an early brace by Roma midfielder Manu Koné.
German Bundesliga: Borussia Dortmund claimed the top spot with a 1-0 away win against Stuttgart, courtesy of Maximilian Beier’s strike. In contrast the Borussia Moenchengladbach's defensive struggles continued with a 4-3 home loss to Mainz.
French Ligue 1: Second-placed Lyon outclassed Rennes 4-0 led by two goals from Ernest Nuamah. Paris FC maintained their unbeaten streak with a 2-1 win over Strasbourg.
