Board director M Nazmul Islam, who was relieved of his post as the head of the finance committee due to cricketers' demands due to controversial comments, has been reinstated.
Nazmul attended the BCB board meeting on Saturday (January 24). There, he was reinstated as the finance department's head. The BCB director confirmed the matter to the media.
After the meeting, BCB media committee chairman Amjad Hossain told the media, "The accountability that was asked of M Nazmul Islam, meaning the board's show cause notice, has been sent to the disciplinary department. The BCB disciplinary department must have made a statement somewhere that his (Nazmul's) answer was satisfactory."
The controversy over Nazmul started after he made some disrespectful comments about cricketers. Earlier, he had also been controversial by calling Tamim Iqbal an 'agent of India' in a Facebook post.
Mohammad Mithun, president of QAWB, an organization working for the welfare of cricketers, demanded his (Nazmul's) resignation. In view of this, Mohammad Mithun, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Mehedi Hasan Miraz boycotted the BPL on January 15. The BCB immediately issued a show cause notice to Nazmul. He was asked to submit a written response within 48 hours. On January 18, BCB chief Faizur Rahman Mitu said that the board had received a response to Nazmul's letter.
According to the constitution, the board cannot dismiss any director. A director is elected for a four-year term. Only in the event of death, mental incapacity, disciplinary punishment, financial insolvency, or absence from three consecutive board meetings, the position of director will be declared vacant.
