Following a mixed outing in England and a tri-series triumph against South Africa and Zimbabwe earlier this year, the Bangladesh U-19 cricket team is set to host Afghanistan for a five-match youth ODI series starting later this month.
The Afghan U-19 side is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on October 20. The series will kick off with the first two matches to be held at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura on October 28 and 31. The final three ODIs are slated for November 3, 6, and 9 at the Rajshahi Divisional Stadium.
Led by Azizul Hakim Tamim, the young Tigers are currently undergoing intensive training in Rajshahi in preparation for the crucial home series.
This series carries added significance for Bangladesh as they gear up for two major tournaments — the ACC U-19 Asia Cup scheduled for early December, followed by the ICC U-19 World Cup to be hosted in Zimbabwe.
Due to weather disruptions during their England tour, three out of five matches were washed out. Bangladesh returned with a 1-1 series draw and will look to gain rhythm and team cohesion ahead of the upcoming continental and global challenges.
