NCP Forms Second Lakshmipur Committee in Two Weeks

The National Citizen Party (NCP) has approved a new 34-member convening committee for its Lakshmipur district unit, less than two weeks after announcing another committee for the same district.

Masum Billah has been named convener, while Advocate Shamsuzzaman Sohel has been appointed member secretary. The back-to-back committee announcements have created confusion among local party leaders and activists.

Earlier, on April 28, another district committee was published on the party’s official Facebook page. In that committee, Masum Billah was also named convener, while Alamgir Hossain was appointed member secretary. However, the post disappeared from the page within a few hours, and no official notice was issued regarding its cancellation or suspension.

The new committee was published on the NCP’s verified Facebook page at around 8:15am on Tuesday, May 12. It was approved by NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain and Southern Region Chief Organizer Hasnat Abdullah.

Other key members of the committee include Senior Joint Convener Jahangir Alam; Joint Conveners Mamun Hossain, Abdur Rahman Bhuiyan, GM Zakaria and Md Alamgir; Senior Joint Member Secretary Alamgir Hossain; and Joint Member Secretaries Mahmudunnabi Titu, Mobarak Hossain, Shafi Ullah and Md Ibrahim Khalil.

NCP Central Organizer Arman Hossain said disagreements over several names emerged after the first committee was announced.

“The earlier committee was suspended within two hours. The new committee was formed after consulting everyone,” he said.

Senior Joint Member Secretary Alamgir Hossain criticized the process behind the new committee.

“I woke up and saw the new committee. It looks unorganized. The central leaders should have conducted field-level verification before announcing it. For a new party, this creates an organizational crisis from the beginning,” he said.
