Local leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) alongside its associate bodies including Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal held a protest procession and rally in Tongi on Thursday against political programs by the Awami League.
Organized under the leadership of Md. Rashedul Islam Kiran the former Joint Convener of Gazipur Metropolitan BNP, the rally began near the BNP office in the Raja's Sandar Para area. Demonstrators marched along the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway from Tongi Bazar before concluding with a brief rally at the Mill Gate area.
Addressing party activists Kiran reaffirmed BNP’s stance against political violence and anarchy to maintain social and political stability. He called on leaders and workers to remain vigilant in Tongi to prevent disruptions urging them to conduct peaceful organized activities and avoid disorder.
Prominent local leaders including Md. Abdul Rahim Kala of Gazipur Metropolitan BNP and Ismail Sikdar Basu of Tongi Thana BNP participated in the event alongside members of Krishak Dal and Jubo Dal.
