Zakir Hossain Bulbul, the Treasurer of the Bheramara Upazila branch of the Bangladesh Awami League, announced his formal resignation from the party during a press conference on Friday night.
Bulbul cited severe health complications alongside personal and family reasons for his departure. He shared that he recently suffered a stroke, underwent heart surgery to implant a medical ring, and required critical care in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Square Hospital.
"Alhamdulillah, Almighty Allah has saved my life from the brink of death," Bulbul stated during the briefing. "Due to my current physical illness and personal challenges, it has become impossible for me to dedicate the necessary time and effort to the party's organizational activities."
He confirmed that his resignation letter has been submitted to the central President and General Secretary of the Bangladesh Awami League, requesting immediate relief from all party positions and duties.
Bulbul emphasized that his decision was purely personal and moral, with no underlying political motives. He expressed deep gratitude to the people of Bheramara for their support over the years and vowed to remain involved in local social welfare activities as his health permits.
