The election of the National Press Club's Management Committee for the 2026-2027 term, to be held on December 31, has been temporarily postponed.

This information was given in a press release signed by the Chairman of the Election Management Committee, SAM Shawkat Hossain, on Thursday (December 18).

The release said that the members of the National Press Club are being informed that all the presidential candidates, all but one general secretary candidates, and most of the candidates in the "Management Committee Election 2026-2027" to be held on December 31, 2025, have submitted a written request to postpone the election due to unavoidable reasons. In this context, the Election Management Committee, subject to discussion with the Press Club Management Committee, is unanimously declaring the election temporarily postponed.

The release mentioned that the next schedule of the election and necessary steps will be announced in due course.
