A high-level meeting began today (November 9) at noon between Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin and representatives from key journalistic bodies at the Election Commission headquarters in Agargaon, Dhaka.

The meeting is focused on discussing and proposing amendments to the existing guidelines for journalists and media personnel who will be covering the upcoming national election.

The journalists' delegation is set to submit a written copy of their proposed amendments to the CEC. They are formally requesting the Election Commission to take necessary and swift steps to revise the current media policy.

The delegation includes representatives from the Bangladesh Journalist Council (BJC), Reporters Forum for Election and Democracy (RFED), and BBC Media Action.

RFED President Kazi Zebel and General Secretary Golam Rabbani are part of the team advocating for changes to the election coverage rules.

The purpose of the discussion is to ensure that the updated guidelines provide sufficient clarity and operational freedom for the media during the electoral process.
