The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast widespread rain and thundershowers across the country over the next 24 hours, providing much-needed relief from a lingering heat wave.
According to the BMD bulletin issued Sunday morning, light to moderate rain accompanied by gusty winds and lightning is expected in most parts of the Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions. Many areas within the Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Dhaka divisions are also likely to see precipitation.
Moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall is specifically predicted for parts of Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet. This shift in weather is expected to abate the mild heat wave currently affecting Rangpur and several districts, including Dhaka, Rajshahi, Pabna, and Sylhet.
The Met office predicts that daytime temperatures will fall by 1–3°C across the country, while night temperatures may see a slight decrease. On Saturday, Rangpur recorded the country's highest temperature at 37.6°C, while the lowest temperature today was 24°C in Nikli.
In Dhaka, the sun is set to rise at 5:16 am tomorrow, following a 6:50 pm sunset today
