Prime Minister Tarique Rahman officially commenced his duties at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in Tejgaon for the first time since assuming leadership. Despite Saturday being a public holiday for International Mother Language Day, the Prime Minister arrived at 10:10 AM to begin administrative operations.
The decision to work through the holiday follows an inter-ministerial meeting held last Thursday, aimed at bringing immediate "dynamism" to the civil administration.
Upon his arrival, the Prime Minister was received by Principal Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar and Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon. The atmosphere turned emotional as the Prime Minister toured the building, greeting long-serving staff members—many of whom had served during the tenure of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
Before heading to his first scheduled meeting, the Prime Minister planted a golden-plated flower sapling on the PMO premises. He then led a special prayer (munajat) attended by his Defense Advisor, Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. AKM Shamsul Islam, along with senior military and civilian officials.
Following the prayers, the Prime Minister immediately transitioned into high-level official briefings to address pending state matters.
