Chief Advisor grateful to nation for fair parliamentary elections and referendum

The Chief Advisor to the Interim Government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has expressed his sincere congratulations and gratitude to the entire nation for the peaceful, orderly and festive atmosphere of the 13th National Parliamentary Elections and Referendum.

After the voting, he said, the spontaneous participation of voters, the responsible behavior of political parties, the restraint of candidates and the professionalism of election-related institutions have together proven that our commitment to democracy is unwavering. The people have played an active role in determining the future of the country by exercising their constitutional rights.

This information was given by his Senior Assistant Press Secretary, Faiz Ahmed, quoting a statement by the Chief Advisor on Thursday (February 12) afternoon.

Faiz Ahmed said, the Chief Advisor expressed special thanks to the Election Commission, law enforcement agencies, armed forces, administration, observer teams, media personnel and all officials and employees involved in the voting. According to him, this grand democratic event was successfully completed due to their dedication and hard work.

The Chief Advisor said, ‘I appeal to the political parties and candidates that even after the final results are announced, democratic decency, tolerance and mutual respect should remain intact. There will be differences of opinion, but we have to remain united in the national interest.’

Bangladesh has once again proven today that the people are the source of all power. We will collectively move forward to build an accountable, inclusive and just state.

He said, this election has ushered in an unprecedented journey of a new Bangladesh through joy and celebration. It was the most peaceful and festive election in the history of the country. If this trend continues, our democracy will reach the peak of excellence.

He called on everyone to come forward to work together in this journey of strengthening democracy.
