Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has strongly denounced the recent attack on Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson for Inqilab Mancha and a potential independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, labeling it a "conspiracy to sabotage the upcoming national election and the referendum."
An emergency meeting held on Friday (December 12) at the State Guest House, Jamuna, chaired by the Chief Adviser. Yunus asserted that the government will not allow such conspiracies to succeed and vowed that no force could thwart the upcoming election.
He termed the attack a "well-planned attack on the democratic journey of Bangladesh" and claimed that the "defeated power" was challenging the existence of the country through this audacious act. Yunus assured the nation that the government, with the combined strength of state forces and public support, would ensure a peaceful election.
The meeting produced several decisive actions and directives. Yunus ordered the immediate arrest of the attackers and those who planned the attack on Hadi. He ordered immediate action at the border to ensure the attackers cannot leave the country.
The security of individuals who may become potential targets due to their active involvement in the July uprising must be taken into consideration. A decision was made to launch a special hotline number soon to prevent untoward incidents during the election period and ensure a rapid response.
The meeting resolved to intensify operations to recover illegal weapons and search locations where criminals may be hiding. The meeting was attended by a high-level delegation, including Advisers Asif Nazrul, Md Jahangir Alam, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, and Adilur Rahman Khan, along with National Security Advisor Khalilur Rahman, special assistants to the chief adviser on various affairs, and senior officials from the police, armed forces, and intelligence agencies.
The Chief Adviser’s Press Wing announced that Muhammad Yunus will soon discuss the emerging situation with key political leaders. He also urged the people to pray for Osman Hadi's speedy recovery. Police confirmed that CCTV footage and other evidence from the attack site have already been collected.
