The weather often becomes dry during the fasting period. To avoid dehydration, it is helpful to include water-rich fruits, cold drinks, or light desserts in iftar. Fruit custard can be a good option. It is tasty, refreshing, and contains nutritious fruits.
Here is an easy way to prepare fruit custard at home.
Ingredients:
1 liter of milk
1 cup of sugar
2 tablespoons of custard powder
¼ teaspoon of cardamom powder
¼ teaspoon of saffron
Grapes (cut into halves)
1 cup banana (cut into small pieces)
1 cup apple (cut into small pieces)
1 cup pomegranate seeds
Preparation Method:
First, keep one cup of milk aside. Pour the remaining milk into a pan and heat it. When the milk starts to boil, add sugar and stir well.
Next, add cardamom powder and saffron and mix thoroughly. In a separate bowl, mix the custard powder with the reserved cup of milk to form a smooth paste.
Slowly pour this mixture into the boiling milk while stirring continuously. Keep stirring so that no lumps form. When the milk thickens, remove it from the heat. Avoid overboiling, as the milk may stick to the pan.
Allow the custard to cool completely. Then add the chopped fruits and mix gently. Refrigerate for about one hour.
Serve the chilled fruit custard at iftar for a refreshing and nutritious treat.
