At Least 35 Killed in Highway Bus Collision in Syria

At least 35 people were killed and 30 others injured on Saturday following a major collision between two passenger buses in central Syria, according to state health and security officials.

The fatal crash occurred on the highway connecting Damascus and Deir ez-Zor specifically on the stretch between the cities of Palmyra and Al-Sukhnah.

According to Syria's Interior Ministry, the accident involved a civilian passenger bus and another vehicle carrying members of the Internal Security Forces.

Emergency response teams rushed to the scene to transport the injured to nearby medical facilities. Health Ministry officials noted that the casualty figures remain preliminary as rescue operations conclude and medical personnel continue treating those in critical condition. Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.
