Popular Bengali actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee has died at the age of 43 after drowning in the sea at Talsari beach in Odisha on Sunday.

According to reports, the actor had gone to the beach after completing a shoot for a television project near Digha. Witnesses said he entered the water alone and later got into difficulty. Crew members rushed to rescue him and took him to a hospital in Digha, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police have registered an unnatural death case and are working with Odisha authorities to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.

Rahul Banerjee is survived by his wife, actress Priyanka Sarkar, and their son. The couple had separated in 2017 but reunited in 2023.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed deep sorrow over his death, calling it a major loss to the Bengali entertainment industry.

Rahul began his career in theatre at a young age and later became widely known for his role in the television show Khela. He gained major popularity with the film Chirodini Tumi Je Amar and went on to act in several notable projects, including Zulfiqar, Na Hannyate, and Byomkesh Phire Elo.

In recent years, he also launched a podcast titled Shohoj Katha, which received positive response from audiences.

His sudden death has shocked fans and colleagues, with many in the industry mourning the loss of a talented and versatile actor.
