


A sudden tension arose between the local leaders and activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in Garikhali Union of Paikgachha Upazila of Khulna, causing concern in the area. The Upazila administration quickly intervened to control the situation. Army and BGB members reached the spot and calmed both sides. Shops in the vicinity were temporarily closed for security reasons.
On Friday (February 13) morning, Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Wasiuzzaman Chowdhury visited the spot to normalize the situation. At this time, on his initiative, the Garikhali Union BNP President and the Union Jamaat Ameer were seated face to face. Both sides were able to reach an agreement in the meeting. Later, they were given a message of mutual harmony and peaceful stance through hugs. At this time, the leaders urged their respective leaders and activists to be restrained and tolerant.
Meanwhile, initial news of tension in Upazila Raruli Union also A team of the army reached there. With their immediate presence, the situation was quickly brought under control.
Upazila Executive Officer Wasiuzzaman Chowdhury said that the law and order situation in the area is currently normal. The upazila administration is taking a strict stance, including strengthening surveillance in the concerned areas to avoid any untoward incident.
