The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has strictly prohibited its field-level officials and employees from visiting its headquarters without prior approval. According to an official order issued on July 2, 2026, the revenue authority noted that frequent, unauthorized visits were disrupting day-to-day administrative operations.

The NBR observed that many employees from various field offices were traveling to the head office without official necessity or proper permission. These visits are considered a breach of administrative decorum and a hindrance to the office’s normal functioning.

To restore discipline and ensure smooth operations, the NBR has directed all field staff to obtain written consent from their respective controlling authorities before visiting the headquarters for any official or personal reasons. This move aims to streamline productivity and uphold professional standards within the national tax administration
